Acqua di Colonia Patchouli is characterized by top notes of geranium and bergamot. The middle welcomes the protagonist, patchouli, accompanied by jasmine. The base notes include patchouli again, with sandalwood and musk. The oriental woody notes evoke the lands of origin of this plant: in traditional Asian medicine, patchouli is an element that can positively influence the balance of body and psyche, completing the olfactory landscape of these places.

Founded as a Dominican friars convent, it is renowned from its beginnings for the formulation of perfumes and remedies. Its apothecary art legacy crosses eight centuries and is deeply intertwined with Florence’s history: considered world’s oldest pharmacy, it carries its activities in the very places where they all began.

My absolute favorite

The entire patchouli line is wonderful. Love the way the patchouli and jasmine support each other in the middle notes. Scent is not overwhelming and long-lasting. I wear it every day.

best patchouli

This is the closest one can get to a pure patchouli essential oil but without the oily texture. I consider it more masculine but can work very well for women too in a dark, musky way. I never run out of this stuff

The Ne Plus Ultra of Patchouli!

I adore patchouli, but have lamented its association with the kinds of one-note, overwhelming, and cheap "hippy" oils one finds fumigating college dorms. By contrast, Santa Maria Novella's patchouli is elegant, earthy, and warm.
This is the only patchouli that I have ever worn that people will stop and ask me about. It is patchouli the way it is meant to be worn.
There is nothing synthetic-smelling or cloying about this gorgeous fragrance. It is sublime in every way.
