Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella's Tabacco Toscano fragrance is a bouquet of woody oriental notes that blend well with smoky vanilla base notes. Catherine de’ Medici Queen of France used tobacco as a remedy for migraines. In fact the plant became known as “Herba catharinaria”.

A mysterious and velvety fragrance. It opens with notes of bergamot and blond tobacco leaves. In the middle, the dark notes of birch and leather are embraced by a warm amber note. On the base, precious woods combine with the soft note of vanilla and musk.

800 Years of Legacy

Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella sets its roots back to 1221. Founded as a Dominican friars convent, it is renowned from its beginnings for the formulation of perfumes and remedies. Its apothecary art legacy crosses eight centuries and is deeply intertwined with Florence’s history: considered world’s oldest pharmacy, it carries its activities in the very places where they all began.

Lovely Tobacco Fragrance

Tuscano is a stunner and its scent profile can definitely compete with contemporary contenders. The opening is fresh tobacco leaf with a touch of smokiness, sweetness, and smooth suede. On the skin, the opening is quite fleeting but sprayed on clothes it lasts a bit longer. As Tobacco Tuscano dries down, powdery vanilla steps forward and is what makes this fragrance perfectly unisex. The overall combination is smooth and just a touch sweet—comforting and cozy. This is my favorite tobacco scent of all time and I've smelled many. The downside is definitely the longevity. I don't mind that it doesn't project, but because it's an eau de cologne concentration, it's not meant to be long-lasting. I hope for stronger concentration options in the future.

Last year, I purchased the wax stationary caddy that was infused with Tabacco Toscano. It is still infusing my guest rooms and everyone loves it. So I bought my husband a small bottle of TT cologne. He sure smells wonderful!
